Published as a single in 1972, the piece is part of that minor genre inspired by nonsense (from 'Ndringhete ndrà to Obladì Obladà), and is considered the precursor of a rap. Celentano indeed interprets a text in an invented language, a sort of grammelot with Anglo-American sounds, on an R & B rhythmic basis. Although nothing of what he says makes sense, its charm is so infectious and enduring that the Canadian writer Cory E. Doctorow successfully relaunched it in the US many years later, in 2009. The song entered the Top Ten in various European countries, while in Italy it appeared in the charts only in 1974, becoming one of the best-selling singles by the end of the year.
