(Morricone-Costanzo-De Chiara) – Mina – 1966
In the summer of 1966, this song in Mina's powerful voice boomed out of the jukeboxes throughout Italy. Ennio Morricone's extremely refined composition allowed itself the luxury of using a splendid stanza once to then intone a refrain that returned like the endless turning of a screw, jumping from one harmony to another with a naturalness matching that of Mina's voice, perfectly at ease in this seamless melodic labyrinth. Penned by screenwriter and playwright Ghigo De Chiara and partly by Maurizio Costanzo, the song was immediately successful abroad in Françoise Hardy’s ethereal version in French (Je changerais d 'avis) and in English (I Will Change My Life) recorded the same year. Je changerais d'avis was recorded again in 2007 by Vanessa & the O's, a Franco-American group, and in 2015 by the Irish band The Divine Comedy. Covers in Italy appeared in 1998 with the Delta V, and in 2015 with Nek, without forgetting Claudio Baglioni’s version in 2006.
